Bear spray was left in cabin prior to our visit and it had gone off. Two groups had come through (including forest service) as it was commented on in the log book. There was a note warning of it written in a paper towel, but the cabin should have been cleaned properly. Our group suffered tremendously for two nights in there. Would have been nice to know prior to our arrival. I left a message with the forest service office a week ago and have heard nothing back. We love this cabin and location but this was very disappointing.

The woodstove is currently not very functional (11/2022). There are large (roughly half inch) gaps around the walls of the woodstove with some tin foil stuffed in there in an attempt to seal it up. It has been in this condition for a couple years now and doesnt have a damper. Although you can get it drafting ok it doesn't provide much warmth in the cabin since it is so leaky and doesnt have a damper.

Great cabin, and always enjoy. If looking to “pay it forward”, would recommend bringing a chain saw to section some of the already down but still good quality trees nearby for a firewood stack. One of the splitting axes is probably going to have the end come off soon too. Lastly, since it is getting dark again, the propane Coleman lamp inside could use new glass and new mantles for it to be useful. Regarding the comments earlier about landing at any tides. It gets snug much above a 14’ tide, though will likely be doable. For above 14.5’ pull up onto the edge of the grass.
