Cabin is a pretty awesome shelter. Wood stove is great, solar powered lights are excellent, and the cold water with sink is another welcomed amenity. The only complaint we had was the astonishing number of flies in the outhouse, and moths in the cabin. It was a literal infestation of bugs. No mice to be seen though. Also a bit of an annoyance having the back door as the only exterior accessible door.

We have been coming to Horse Prairie for 11 years now. It has served us well as a real 'out-of-the-way' place to connect with each other and explore. We did not mind when the nightly rental fee tripled a few years ago with some new amenities (12v lights replaced propane ones, new coat of poly on the floor, new stove), but the past couple of years the attention to the cabin by the forest/district has really fallen off. The volume of mouse droppings and the stench of decaying mice might be enough to have us looking elsewhere after this visit. I 100% realize this might be a product of the drastic cuts to the workforce, but it is just becoming untenable.
