The trip and cabin were just right for us. We walked in on S. Cottonwood Trail in 4.5 hours during a warm afternoon that softened the snow crust, making do some post-holing. We should have come in the morning while the crust was still firm, as it was the following morning during our 3.5-hour walk out. Cabin was quaint and rustic, with a single bunk, a wood burning stove, and not too much more. Just what we wanted. There was also a few cooking pans, scoop shovel, hatchet, wood-splitter axes, two bow saws, 3 mouse traps, and a small assortment of cooking utensils. Dead trees for the stove have been used up in the immediate vicinity of the cabin but there are many many dead trees a little further out, and there is a sled available to help pull wood back. The stove’s flu was broken, so the stove smoked the cabin a bit when the door was open, but was manageable. The stove’s ash shovel had a missing handle so the shovel quickly got too hot to handle inside the hot oven. We suggest bringing a new ash shovel.

We loved it! It was well stocked w/ everything you could need; firewood, cookware, etc. A beautiful and peaceful getaway.
