Boat Gunnel is a camping experience like no other. There is space for 4 RVs and several tent sites. Cave Run Lake is a short walk from the shelter. The lake is beautiful and perfect for fishing, kayaking and boating. The shelter has 6 large picnic tables with electric outlets and lighting. A large parking lot for the kids to ride bikes, scooters or any other activities. I love to camp here. Perfect for family reunions or large family gatherings. This is the ultimate camping experience and probably the reason it is so hard to get reservations, especially weekends. If you get the opportunity to camp here, do it!

Boat Gunnel campground is great for a family camping trip. It has 4 rv hookups. A 50 amp and a 30 amp on each post (2 posts). Be aware of the amps that you are putting out. We have thrown the breakers before trying to run air conditioners. They may have put new breakers on since then. We didn't have a problem this trip because it was cool outside. We all ran space heaters as needed. The water faucet is about 100 ft. from the furthest camp site. It has a lot of pressure. Might want to bring a pressure regulator. The site has about 10 tent sites, a large shelter, and a large fire pit with benches. You can shut the gate and enjoy letting your children ride bikes around the site safely. I didn't use the bath house, but it looked very clean. As a hole, the entire site is kept very clean. The shelter has about 6 or so picnic tables and a large charcoal grill with an aluminum table beside it. You will have to drive to Twin Knobs to use the dump station. It is just a couple of miles away. The host was very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this site for multiple people wanting to camp together. You will have to reserve it a year in advance and it fills up quickly. You will be able to walk down to the lake from the site. There is also interpretive trails and a trail to the marina. The marina has a restaurant open during the summer season. Elliot's Pizza is close by and will deliver. Pop's is also down the road a few miles.

My family and I stayed here for 2 nights and we had so much fun. Host was wonderful to speak to and he took care of many things. It was very nice having the picnic shelter and bathhouse when needed. And being by the water was great for the kids. Will stay again soon.

This site is ideal for a group of tent campers, and is very pretty and lots of space between the tent sites. We were a group of six travel trailers, and there was enough room for all of us to park in the lot. There are only two posts, each with a 50, 30, and 110 outlet. We were able to run all six campers off the two with lots of extension cords and adapters. Not sure if they would have run A/C units, but worked fine in cool weather camping. The bathhouse is clean, but only had two showers and two toilets on each side. One of the showers on the men's side didn't work well at all, the other could have used a little maintenance as well. The host was extremely friendly and kept the place spotless while we were there.
