We had an incredible experience at Kading. We snowmobiled about four miles into the cabin on about a foot of untracked snow. The cabin was clean and the wood bin stocked. This cabin has many supplies for cleaning and cooking. Two great perks: running water and a sink that drains outside. While we were there, we shoveled off the picnic table for the next guests and we stocked both the inside and outside wood bins. The cabin is equipped with an assortment of games and puzzles. The stove heated the cabin quickly. There is a propane stove and it works better than the one we brought. The outhouse seems fairly new: i.e. clean. All in all, we had a great time. We will come back next winter. This isn't a cabin I'd go to in the summer. It is too close to the campground. Numerous entries in the log book noted the noise coming from the campground at night during the summer months and hunters in the fall.

What a great location and a nice cabin! I appreciated the gray water drain sink to the outside, running water outside, and plentiful wood for the outdoor fire ring and indoor stove. The previous visitors left the cabin in great shape. I was happy to have an extra set of mantels for the lantern, but it needs a new globe. Part of staying in the woods is being around the wildlife, including mice. There were many signs, and I highly recommend bringing disinfecting wipes or spraying with paper towels to wipe everything down. I even had a few check me out after it got dark thinking, “Who’s in our house?” Overall, it was a great experience, and I recommend taking advantage of the gracious offering of the National Forest Service. I look forward to visiting again soon.

This cabin is a perfect little escape. Make sure you have lanterns/headlamps because the cabin is VERY dark at night with all of the shutters closed. Make sure you read (and contribute!) to the cabin log book. So many wonderful stories of the cabin’s storied past.

Had a great weekend stay at the kading cabin. Hiked to Blackfoot meadows, which was an easy 8 mile round trip hike. The cabin was well furnished and very clean and comfortable. I’d definitely recommend a stay there . I’ll be back in the future!
