We've been here a couple times before and it has definitely been spruced up since our last visit (over a decade ago) so that made it much nicer. It's a truly beautiful quiet spot with stunning views. However we happened to be there when it was very cold (including a cold wind) so couldn't really sit outside to enjoy the patio. The main room of the house was also on the cool side for sitting relaxing; we had brought extra blankets and heat packs thank goodness but not sure I'd visit in winter again. Some good hiking close by but as we were with my nearly 90-year old dad that wasn't feasible for us on this visit; next time!

The cresent moon cabinet was good, except there is an strong oder when I first open the door and there isn’t any pillow or blankets in the back room where I stay the room in. And in middle of the night around 4 am, there was this loud noise, when I check the brush and broom was fall down behind the wall next to fridge was fall down and when I left the morning, my pouch of heated dry freeze food was gone missing.

If lucky enough to get this spot, congrats. It is very historical. It would be cool to have a volunteer week/weekend to spruce up this aging gem. Everything is good. Lots of memories. Nice location for hiking.

We visited this cabin with three other couples who have known each other for decades. This is a repeat visit for us and, as always, was a wonderful experience. Enjoyed the hiking, wine tasting and sight-seeing this incredible place has to offer. Also enjoyed just sitting on the deck, taking in the breath-taking sights and sounds of nature. At the risk of sounding like a scold, my only criticism would be that, upon arrival, the cabin was about as messy as I have ever experienced at this or any other Forest Service cabin. Please take a moment to clean the fridge, microwave and all bathrooms when you leave so that neither the next guest nor the wonderful volunteers who help with upkeep are required to take care of your mess.

The cabin is very spacious and can easily sleep 8-10 people. It has a large kitchen with all necessary equipment, big lounge, screened AZ room, outdoor BBQ area with a beautiful view over woods and rocks. There is easy access to river and ridge trails.
