Great lookout. Good views. We managed to pick just a few huckleberries. Bring camp chairs, there’s only a bench up there. We loved our time there.

The lookout is in excellent condition with high quality decking and solid railing. The parking area is nice and relatively close to the lookout structure - so it's not too much effort to haul your things up. The views are great - partially obstructed as some have mentioned - but still better than you're going to find in most places. You may want to bring a padlock to lock out the courtesy gate on the road up to the lookout. Others seems to ignore that gate being open or shut. A note on the forest service roads up to the lookout: use the path they recommend from Trout Creek. We came from Washington and followed Google Maps which took us on a particularly rough road with very little clearance in places (would have been fine in a side-by-side, but not so great in a full sized truck). Coming from Washington you could either go around Lake Pend Oreille or go through Thompson Falls - either is similar enough of a travel time. And trust me: the path Google Maps suggests is not going to go as quickly as it says. It's a good one - enjoy!

Minton Pk LO was clean, very comfortable and well appointed. Window screens are AWLAYS very appreciated!!! Mattresses were in good shape, and the firewood and gas for the Coleman stove were in good supply. But the most awesome thing was SO MANY HUCKLEBERRIES EVERYWHERE!!! My 18yo son and I truly enjoyed our 2 nights there and highly recommend this LO.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The screens for the windows were especially appreciated. Great views, clean lookout. Bring camp chairs with you, there’s only a bench to sit on. The deck is wider than most which makes it easier to maneuver around.

Terrific location; fabulous views even in the rain and fog; easy to find; good road suitable for whatever you drive; love the ground level lookouts for ease of accessibility for littles and grandparents alike! Don't forget to bring camp chairs for your crew; there's only one hard bench. Two great beds. Fine ATT cell reception at the tower only. Walk a few feet in either direction and there's no signal. Forest Service communication prior to our stay was great. Thanks, Forest Service, for this well kept facility! Oh... there may have been a gallon of huckleberries picked.
