Hmmm, awesome spot, and we have been to this cabin many, many times. We did not give it an excellent rating because: With the price at $60 per night now, maybe the road could be cleared into the cabin now, since the main road is cleared to the Grotto Falls/ice climbing/Hyalite Lake trailhead parking? The rent is high, compared to other similar cabins in the state.

Beyond incredible. Majestic views, clean cabin, very cozy. Can’t wait to return in the winter when it must be spectacular.

Cabin is cute and cozy, with a front porch perfect for reading and taking in the views. Beds rather than cots made for comfortable sleeping. There are trails galore in the area. Cabin turnoff is unmarked so look for the padlocked gate on the right as you drive from the reservoir.

Stayed at Window Rock for a cross-country skiing trip and it was lovely. Access was easy for winter standards. Just parked at one of the pullouts 1/4 mile down the road and skied up to the cabin. The fireplace was super cozy and kept the place warm all night. Lots of trails to access from the cabin. There's Westshore which can be skied all the way to the Blackmore parking lot. Then, on the other side, there's a trail that eventually connects to the parking area near Chisholm which connects to the Wildhorse and Maxey Cabin trails. Great place to stay for a winter weekend at Hyalite. It should be even better when Window Rock gets its repairs soon.

Cabin is in a great location for cross-country skiing. Close to road but relatively secluded. The adjacent hillside meadow is a popular spot for kids to build and use ski jumps, so expect some nearby commotion on powder days. It's helpful to bring a snow shovel to create space for parking near the gate if there has been a lot of snow.

It was obvious that people take very good care of the cabin! Thank you everyone in the Park service. It also appears somebody from outside the cabin is currently taking wood from the shed almost each day with a sled.

Window Rock Cabin is very accessible from Bozeman, but secluded, cozy and surrounded by spectacular beauty.
