What a fun place to stay. Our family had a great time here. We are thankful for those who have worked to preserve this place and make it pleasant lodging! This is the sixth ranger cabin that we have stayed in, and it’s one of the best. It’s clear that a lot of time and consideration has gone into making it pleasant. Even the outhouse has been made into a pleasant little place. As my husband said upon arrival, “It’s like they actually want you to have fun here!” Things we did not expect to find but definitely appreciated: dark curtains, comfortable beds, large sofa, fans to bring in cool air, puzzles, games, extra toilet paper, corn hole set, marshmallow sticks, lighters, and comfortable campfire benches. The kitchen had nearly everything you could want, including plenty of dishes and bakeware, even Crock-pots, a cast iron pan, glass baking dishes, and so on. We didn’t expect to be able to have a campfire in early September, when there are burn bans in much of the West! But there is plenty of moisture in this valley, so s’mores were a staple part of our diet! The basement below the house stores plenty of extra chairs and other supplies for a large group. We were pleased to find a large, deep, cold swimming hole in the creek near the house! The only thing we found a little challenging was finding the turnoff to Tally Lake. It’s about seven miles from the cabin. Once we did find it, we spent a lovely day there kayaking and cliff jumping. It has the best jumping-off cliff I’ve ever seen.
