What a dream... to have Redfish all to yourself. Summer at Redfish is wonderful, but winter is magical.

beautiful views over the lake, perfect crust-cruising weather while we were there, and I loved not having to wake up in the middle of the night to stoke a fire like we do in a yurt! The people before us walked in w/sneakers(!!!), and next time I'll bring some to go for a jog on the snowmobile-groomed trails. If you stay on the groomed trails, you'll be perfectly happy in snowshoes or classic skis, but if you want to explore the meadows/forests/lakeshore, my vote is for backcountry skis w/skins. They were perfect for afternoons when the crust became soft and classics wouldn't have stayed on top. Kitchen currently has no sieve for snowmelt or oven mitts -- I'll bring my own next time.

This is such an awesome place to stay in the winter! It is a bummer that the propane heater wasn't working, but the electrical heaters kept us plenty warm even when the overnight low dropped to -10. If you are planning on melting snow, I would bring a bigger stock pot. We ended up with all 4 burners melting snow for most of the evenings. Remember to bring paper towels, some cleaning supplies, It was an amazing trip and I can't wait to return next year.

We had a great night at Redfish Cabin! The kitchen was stocked quite well, including high quality pans. There were only about 3 place settings of silverware, so someone may want to pack in some more from a thrift store to donate. The other thing we wished we would have brought in was paper towels. The baseboard heating kept us comfortable. There is also a selection of card games and puzzles for indoor fun. It was wonderful being the only people at the lake in the middle of winter. What a beautiful place.
