Fantastic location, house has a ton of character and charm. Firewood was out so we couldn't build a fire in the bedroom wood stove (the main fireplace in the living room remains boarded up anyway). If you want a fire bring your own wood! Space heaters worked relatively well to heat the place otherwise. Hot water heater was out, which is new compared to when we stayed one year ago. Showers were chilly! On the whole a super cool spot, would love to see a little investment into maintaining the place!

We really enjoyed our stay. The landscape is stunning. We only saw deer. Unfortunately, it was so windy we were not able to spend much time outside. Highly recommend reading the history of this wonderful cabin. You can find it in "the book". We will definitely go back.

Shaw house was nice and clean when we arrived. We left it in the same clean condition when we left. We took our trash with us because we did not know where to dispose of it.

Shaw House-Great little cabin. Original plans were for two nights, was able to add another night to the beginning of our stay. Arrived about 10pm the first night: waning full moon and no lights to speak off. Very nice. Layout of the house was unique, yet by the end of our visit, felt like home. Enough room for everybody to stretch out, but not be very far away. Cabin was fenced in with enough area for five young kids to run around in. Cochise Stronghold neighbors very friendly and outgoing-learned a few things about the area from them. Was able to see deer every day we were there-even had two walk right past the big picture window on Sunday morning. Best thing though was no tv's and very, very limited cell service(the oldest kid could tell you exactly where the best cell service spots were for service of course). Only encountered a few issues during our stay. Cabin does have three fireplaces, yet only one works-master bedroom(did not need a fire, yet wanted the ambience in the main room). Most windows did not open to let the cool breeze in. A couple windows are in need of repair-glass and/or screens. The most serious issue was the lack of water we encountered last day there(Sunday). Roughly had no water for anything(cooking, bathrooms, showers, etc). Made it slightly harder to clean up like they wanted us to, yet easier to leave though, Two older members of our party did encounter paranormal activity in the cabin at night. Nothing out of the ordinary for an older house. All in all, our three night stay at the Shaw House was enjoyable and would look forward to another stay, albeit a few more days and as along as the water continues to flow.

We spent 2 nights at the quaint Shaw House. The house was decently cleaned upon our arrival. Bring your own cleaning supplies- a broom, mop, shop vac and bucket are supplied, but sprays and liquid cleaners are limited. The views are spectacular from the yard and we enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the evenings. We hiked both Cochise Trail and Rockfellow Dome from the campground. Rockfellow Dome is not a moderate trail as defined by AllTrails- not suited for over-60 crowd. All in all we had a great trip. Would definitely return.
