We had a very pleasant stay in this cozy cabin and are looking forward to going back! Here are some updates on the description of the cabin: 1. The lock box is at the front door and the key opens both the front and back door. 2. The bedroom no longer has bunk beds (the mattresses and bed frame are in the closet). The bedroom now had a full bed. There is a space heater in this room as it is the coldest in the house, but it worked great to keep us warm! 3. The living room has 2 full-size futons. 4. The kitchen has almost everything you will need to prepare any type of meal. Full-size stove/range, microwave, coffee maker, assorted pots and pans, colander, serving dishes, utensils, flatware, dishes, glasses, mugs– the only thing I would recommend is a good knife as the knives here are not good. 5. The dining room can easily sit 6 but there are only 4 dining room chairs. There is an extra chair in the mudroom by the front door (so you can take your boots off and not track mud/dirt through the house) and a rocking chair in the bedroom. 6. The backyard is easily the best feature of this house! There’s a fire with 4 log seats, a picnic table with seating, and 2 grills. Plenty of trees to hang a hammock and spacious for your dog to run around! 7. The wood burning stove is not functional at this time. There’s a note on it that says “do not use, chimney is blocked”. This should be fixed as soon as possible- that it is non-functioning is disappointing! The furniture is worn and the cabin could use a deep clean. At $125 a night, and very few dates without reservations, there’s no reason why the furniture couldn’t be repaired or updated. It’s clear from other reviews and the logbooks from previous visitors that this cabin is much loved, definitely a “pay it forward” attitude about cleaning and leaving some provisions, like toilet paper, paper, towels, etc. for the next guest. We’re looking forward to going back!

Overall is a nice cabin getaway at a fair cost. Was absolutely worth it and beautiful scenery. Good location on the mountain, but you can hear quite a bit of traffic (not 100% secluded for anyone wanting a more isolated experience). Going up to the Sky Center Observatory for sunset was just breathtaking. Also great to wake up every morning and be surrounded by deer. Was expecting bare bones but ended up having lots of creature comforts. Bed was super comfy. Nice to actually have Wifi too (maybe didn’t read that before reserving). Cons: Spent a lot of time cleaning bathroom- it wasn’t nasty but it definitely hadn’t had a real scrubbing in a while. Only legitimate issue was previous folks left their trash behind and we had to haul it off… we already had a pretty loaded car with food, bedding, clothes, baby necessities, and gear so wasn’t great to pack the car even tighter and go home with extra. Knowing we had to haul off someone else’s trash when leaving ruined the experience for my wife.

I enjoyed two visits in October 2022 and loved each stay. Comfortable and well equipped, except…..a snap style mousetrap or two would have been helpful! A mouse or mice and I battled during the night as its noises awoke me multiple occasions and I filmed it several times scurrying across the counter and slipping into the slot atop the gas stove. My food items and crumbs were cleaned up, but it was persistent! I will return and bring my own trap(s). There was disinfecting cleanser that was used to take care of the droppings on the counters, stovetop tables, etc. It was originally found cozily nesting in a cabin blanket on the top shelf of the bedroom closet. Sigh. It did make for a good story, however, and my Facebook friends followed it closely!

The cabin is a nice size. The queen sized bed was very comfortable. The heat came on quickly and the house warmed up quickly. I didn't notice traffic noise. Although it was only one bar, we seemed to have wi-fi most of the time. The phone was not quite as reliable. I don't think the cabin was well inspected as there was a spill on the bottom shelf of the fridge and dirty clothes hanging on a hook on the back of bathroom door. We lived very lightly. A Swifter with the wet jet would have been adequate to clean the floors for us but the fluid for the Swifter was empty. The cabin was equipped with broom, shop vacuum, etc. Be aware that you are in the mountains and may need to acclimate to the altitude. We did. We enjoyed our stay and slept really well. We will return.
