Propane was not working, so bring a backup stove if you want to cook until/if that is fixed. Gorgeous views, great stay. We were able to drive straight to it in a very low snow year - final road was very rough for 3-4 miles, but our Subaru was able to make it. Locks on gate and lookout are finicky - need to press them in before unlocking, but once you get the hang of it becomes simple. Expect visitors on weekends. Stove worked well. Bathroom was clean. Electricity was a welcome surprise. Highly recommend it!

Really enjoyed starting here the week of Christmas. The roads had snow so we hiked in maybe 2 miles. A massive storm rolled in and it got incredibly windy but still an amazing experience.

This was incredible! We were surprised at the presence of the mini fridge and just the amount of amenities available for us, we absolutely will book this again. We went May 31st and there was still enough snow to block the car. We did hike 1.2 miles up to the lookout, did not need snowshoes for the 0.4 miles that had large snow patches.

Such an amazing stay! Snow on and off on the way up. Pretty deep the last 3 miles. We didn’t use snow shoes or anything but were fine. Everything was in great working condition. Slept surprisingly well! Glad we had maps with many different trail options researched ahead of time because a couple trails we were going to go on were completely snowed in and bushwack (like feet creek trail!). So we stayed higher on the FR. Snow might be mostly melted by now though on lower parts . Fret creek trail was not accessible at all so we continued on the FR. Definitely will go again with my kid! We chopped lots of wood and made snow stairs to the sheds

There were sections of the trail that were without snow. The trip was strenuous, but the views were well worth it. As previously mentioned the wood stove didn't seem to be putting out much heat until it was really cranking for several hours. All and all an excellent trip with amazing views of Jefferson, Hood, Adams, and Rainer when its clear.
