The lookout is in great shape and everything in working order. Heater switch was replaced last week by a previous renter and it kept it nice and toasty for our chilly 23 degree nights. Solar phone charging is available if you bring a cigarette lighter type charge port and your cord. Lookout was very clean prior to arrival and well stocked with TP, paper towels, disinfectant wipes, and some water. We left more of all the same for the next group. There are no pots or pans, and only 1 coffee cup, 1 small plate, 1 bowl. Clear and cold, 20's to mid 40's, but lots of sunshine and spectacular views from Three Sisters to Mt Hood. Star gazing is most vivid after moon set and incredible. We didn't have a single visitor the 2 days we were there. Bed is a futon and not very comfortable, but tolerable considering the amazing experience that comes along with being able to stay in a chance of a lifetime middle of nowhere place with the best views. Very peaceful 💕 We will be back!

We had a wonderful stay! The lookout is in good shape and we had amazing weather, not too hot, not too cold, not windy. We were lucky to have absolutely stunning sunset and sunrise views over Seekseekqua, the Sisters, Hood and other peaks. Before heading to the lookout, we hiked the Metolius River trail from Wizard Falls downstream to lower bridge (about 5.5-6 mi and gorgeous). We stayed on a Sunday night and only had one group of people come by to use the pit toilet but they didn't bother us. There are some pots and pans but no plates, cups, mugs, utensils, etc.

Good facility and great views, but lots of foot traffic and unwanted visitors. First day there were at least 50 visitors. Not a great location if isolation is the goal

We loved staying in the lookout, except for the fact that the failing propane heater really negatively affected our experience. Granted it was cold Nov 12-14 and ranged from 28- 44 degrees, but it never warmed up past 55 the first day, and the second day and night it dropped to 44 inside. The high-low setting on the heater didn’t change the flame length at all. We had to bundle up in many many layers plus hats. Thankfully, we brought an additional down comforter to use on top of our sleeping bags. Please fix it so we can come back. Thanks!!!

Excellent spot, a bit far out relative to some other camp sites or reservations but an excellent view and get away. Perfect escape for a weekend or longer if available.
