A perfect spot to spend my birthday as I headed north from NRG. The cabin and outhouse were clean. There was ample firewood along with a saw and hatchet. The vista could use some tree trimming, but was still great. The heat was appreciated given the cool night. Great experience!

It was beautiful! We brought everything we needed even though it was more than well stocked with everything we needed. The only downfall (and this may just be because I'm short) you couldn't really see down in the valley because of the overgrowth and trees. Still the view was gorgeous, and the silence was amazing. It was so dark we saw ALL the stars. We will absolutely be making it a yearly tradition! Highly recommended!

Road to mountain top is fine. Enjoyed exploring the park at the bottom of the mountain. Cabin is rustic but warm and comfortable. Bring your own pillows, blankets, etc. Decent pit toilet. Good amount of firewood. The mountain top is secluded with beautiful views and loved having nothing but the sounds of nature. We hiked along the ridge and found an old lumber road to hike back. The night sky was fantastic. Only one scary incident around 11PM, when two trucks drove up to the tower about 100 yards from us and started rapid shooting guns. We yelled to please not shoot our direction and they left. Gave us some nerves for a bit. Otherwise a super cool place to stay.

Simple, quite and nice. Did not see sun for 21/2 days but still had great time. Relaxing and felt good to warm bones by nice outdoor fire. Great piece of history in area and civil war battles'. Forest Service did great job in restoring. Hopefully will make more trips to great state.
