Stunning views, and comfortable and thoughtful amenities. What we were not prepared for the sheer amount of people who do not know it is a campsite, and therefore walk right up to the windows. Especially at dusk and dawn. They wander around outside the bathroom too. There are no posted signs indicating that this is reservable campsite, so no one has any idea what they are walking into.

I've been lucky enough to go to the fire tower 2 years in a row and it's always wonderful. This year there were a few changes: no pillows, no wool blankets, and **no additional space heaters**. It was a cold night with no less than 9 storms that blew through the entire night (kind of a vibe but also freezing). Highly recommend bringing up a space heater you don't mind leaving behind as a donation (we would have had we known).

The 1 mile hike is challenging for those not acclimated to the elevation. The view was magnificent!!!! and well worth the 1 hour 1 mile hike!!

It took half hour to open the push button lock. It was dark, 5 degrees and wind speeds of god knows how much. Please change the lock box! It was either frozen or worn out, almost impossible to open, and not pleasant to stand there in 5 degree weather and the thing does not open. The next gripe: Bring back the space heaters! Or, add about 10 more wall units. The one tiny wall unit does not even make a dent when it is cold. We were prepared with warm clothes and sleeping bags, and despite wearing every single item of clothing inclusive of gloves inside of the sleeping bag, I never stopped shivering all night long. I'd been there the previous year when it was cold, but the space heaters kept us warm and toasty, the small wall replacement there now is not sufficient! But, you can't beat the uniqueness of the tower or the fabulous views! One of a kind, for sure!
