Nice, large cabin in a visually private setting though pretty close to the road. Access was easy through locked gate and the dirt road was short and navigable. Cabin has a spacious main room and shared bedroom. Newer outhouse was in good shape. Nice fire ring and benches outside. Wood burning stoves in each room inside. And a nice patio to boot! On the downside, mice were a fairly real menace. They scattered throughout the cabin all night and got into my car (with all the windows rolled up) and proceeded to make a mess of the inside of my car. Just part of nature, of course. Still, I'd park your car a bit away from the cabin to hopefully separate their (presumed) nest from your cherished vehicle. Otherwise, a great stay.

Directions to hike to the cabin were a little misleading, but overall the cabin and its location was gorgeous.

Wonderful cabin in a beautiful setting! Comfortable and well stocked with an efficient stove, keeping us warm in sub-zero temps. Note: the ski trail from the Battle Ridge parking lot is NOT clearly marked and the directions in the confirmation email are only semi-helpful. The trail starts from the south-east corner of the parking lot by the stop sign. Be prepared for some ups and downs along this trail (nothing extreme, but not necessarily easy with a loaded pack). The Forest Service really should find a way to plow the space in front of the gate, allowing guests to ski along the cabin road instead.

The cabin was very clean and well stocked. Beds are comfortable. The wood stoves work great and kept us warm. There are only four chairs so if you have 5 in your group, bring another chair. The trek into the cabin from the parking lot seemed longer than a half mile. There are lots of ups and downs and we were really glad we had snow shoes as pulling our sleds while wearing skis would have been very difficult. We skied two days and took a different route up Brackett Creek each time.
