Stayed the night during a bikepacking trip from Copperway trailhead to High Rye and then down German Gulch trail (High German Loop). We were the first public guests of 2023 and the Forest Service had the cabin in excellent shape, extremely clean, and well stock with wood. Thank you so much for keeping this amazing cabin open to the public!

The cabin is well-furnished and well-stocked to provide a great experience. There was plenty of firewood and kindling already available. The beds have mattresses. There are cast-iron skillets and some dishes available. There are some board games available. And there are even two tables and chairs inside (including a large chair to sit in while enjoying a fire in the stove). I stayed on my own for two days as part of a road trip. I spent my time splitting wood and enjoying the quiet solitude, which is ample there. There's a whole part of me that wants to keep the property a secret. But the only way places like this stay available to the public is if the public actually pay to use them! Therefore, I highly recommend High Rye Cabin.
