The weather was cold and rainy, so I'm thankful that the previous renters left plenty of firewood and kindling in the cabin. Everyone should do this! Dried-up mouse in a mousetrap, though, plus doggie kibble in the oven broiler pan -- definite mouse evidence. I cleaned all that up, plus took a couple bottles of homemade beer (or something) plus seasoning stuff out of the cabinets. Liquids can freeze! And any food stuff will attract more mice and packrats.

We enjoyed the remote location. Although there is a mouse problem, as long as you keep food in hard sided containers and clean up after cooking, you won't experience issues. Lots of hiking trails in the area.

Excellent cross country skiing at Chief Joseph Pass and downhill skiing at Lost Trail. Thank you previous occupants for having an ample supply of wood chopped for us. If it is going to be very cold outside (it got down to -15F) I recommend bringing something to hang over the windows to keep the cold out--we used wool blankets and binder clips.

We had a fantastic time like we always do. Recommend skiing at Lost Trail and Chief Joseph Pass. Pay it forward. Please empty the wood stove ashes, leave plenty of chopped wood and kindling, and make sure the wood shed is locked.
