Great place! Cabin had propane stove, heater & lanterns (propane is included). Hiking trails around cabin aren't that well maintained. Detached outhouse was clean. Had a great time relaxing all weekend. No stores or cell service. I'd suggest bringing toilet paper & water just in case...

The $40/day cost is reasonable for the facilities offered, but does not allow/fund its proper maintenance. We spent about 45 minutes cleaning the site of materials left by previous visitors; there is still much to do in this regard. The propane stove worked, but the propane lights, fridge and heater we inoperable.

Lovely site for a weekend getaway if you're up for minimal perks. The propane stove, heater, and lights were great, the outdoor bathroom was top notch for a waterless system. Somehow, they even managed to reduce odors. The cabin is well made and maintained. Overall, it was a great experience.

The grounds were amazing and the cabin was so cozy and nice. I do wish there were instructions to ignite the gas lights, but we brought our own. Lovely quiet place.

9/7/23 The propane HEATER & LIGHTS DON'T WORK, but the propane stove does. Tiller Ranger Station said they told the website that, but it's not there, nor anything about the lights. It's was Very cold & we had a Baby and child with us.

July 5-8, 2023: We really enjoyed staying at Whiskey Camp Guard Station. It is rustic, but found the propane stove and refrig working well. The signage which helped us make all the right turns onto the Forest Service roads there was great. Take a map for good measure; best is the Tiller Fire Service map. You can see one posted outside the Tiller Ranger station. Don't miss road 46, a right turn from Tiller, marked as such to get to the cabin. We did have mice at night, but took a few mouse traps. They loved peanut butter. Too bad we had to catch them. Keep all food covered. The clear plastic storage boxes with snap down locking lids work well for all food and utensils. Nice hiking trails and road near cabin. Beaver Creek trail the best. You will see some cars, ATV's on road behind cabin; 3 in four days. Down side are the mattresses. TERRIBLE CONDITION. Torn, dirty, smelly, mouse poop on them. Really need new ones. We took a queen air mattress for the top, and put the two beds together for the two of us. Ok, but smelled like mouse pee. Take spray bathroom cleaner for surfaces. Outhouse was good, TP had not been added for some time. Some stored in cabin and others left some. I would return, but if price is increased with no upgrades; think not. Very quite and restful place. Beautiful trees, spring flowers and greenery. DA
