First thing is the new keypad entry instead of the combo lock that has been on the door for 20 years. It was a surprise to me. It is a good thing my friend is familiar with keypads on other facilities. Also, the keypad is rather high to the right of the back door. Once we got in, the cabin is great and has had a recent upgrade. New floors, nice beds upstairs. John, who did the work is a friend and he did a great job. We do love this cabin even though fire has burned all around.

Cabin was workable, very pretty area of the forest, lots of wildlife and pretty hiking areas. That being said, cabin was IMPOSSIBLE to find in the dark. No sign, identifying number, nothing. There are several cabins on the road the instructions tell you to take, with no indication of which cabin is the guard shack. No cell service so you can't call anyone. Husband and I ended up sleeping in our car on some dark back road, waiting for the sun to come up so we could find people to help us find the cabin. However, during the day the road is pretty heavily trafficked for a back road. During day light hours there were at least 3-4 cars per hour driving in front of the cabin, and multiple people parking 20 feet from the cabin to access the river. Not quite the quiet cabin experience we expected. Kitchen sink kept backing up into bathroom sink - super gross. Prior people had left a note in the guest book about the issue, but apparently it did not get fixed. Fridge was full of empty packaging and old food from prior people. Not sure what they were thinking...during a pandemic would you eat a stranger's food/drinks that had been left in a fridge for who knows how long?
