Wonderful place to stay. Million dollar view from the front porch. So nice to be able to stay in with my dog right by the creek, forest and trails. Not fancy but comfortable and functional. Great to be able to cook a real dinner and have a shower after a day of hiking.

Wonderful stay at Portal Bunkhouse! We wondered about the two front doors. There were not two units. Half of the unit is the kitchen, with a full size fridge, oven, table with 4 chairs, & microwave. There were lots of dishes, utensils, pots & pans. The other side of the unit has the bedroom & bathroom. We were comfortable. Lots of great hiking in the area. Hiked up to Silver Peak on our last full day. A beautiful dark sky with lots of stars, shooting stars, and the milky way. Spectacular scenery all around.

Love this 1934 cabin in Cave Creek Canyon. The view from the porch was amazing. My husband and I loved the location so we could go exploring the Chiracahuas. The cabin needs some maintenance but we still enjoyed our stay. You can feel the history sitting in that little stone cabin watching the deer pass by.
