The cabin was cute. But the outhouse was terrible . It really needs pumped out. Poop is almost to the seat . We did leave a day early cause it was super cold and we were blazing through the firewood and still couldn’t keep the room warm. We 3 of us all slept in the living room to stay warm. Would do again if the outhouse got pumped out.

My fifth visit to this cabin and just love being away from the crowds. Had 4 days of XC skiing and never saw anyone else and the cabin n is so cozy and quiet. The cabin could do with a little loving though with broken window, temperamental combination lock and needing a little paint here and there. I’d gladly do volunteer work party to get things back in shape. I purchased an axe and donated it to the cause as a little difficult to have fires in wood stove if you can’t cut up the wood. Hopefully the axe will still be there on my next visit.🤞

We've stayed at the American River Guard Station before many years ago and were very excited to take a mid-winter getaway. Unfortunately, the cabin has not been well maintained or looked after, the paint is literally peeling off the ceilings & there is water damage as well. The cabin upon entering was very dirty. Whoever "cleaned" it before us, did not do a good job because there was dirt and debris on the floors, food left in the fridge, & water jugs left. The "gray water" bucket under the sink was full. The cabin has a dingy feel to it with stained curtains & a broken dining table. The temperature was in the low 20s the week we planned to stay, so I called the Naches Ranger Station (that's a headache on its own!) ahead of time to make sure that there was supplied fire wood as mentioned in the description. I was able to get ahold of someone who told me wood "should" be supplied. I asked for the number for the person who would know if it actually was. I left a message for said person and still to this day, have not received a call back. The cabin was 38 degrees when we arrived & only one round of wood was provided. The doors have no weather stripping. There are large gaps around the door & floor so the cold outside was just pouring in. We had to drive an hour home to get wood from our own house & a space heater since what was provided was not going to provide enough heat/fuel for our stay. We stuffed a blanket in front of the door to help. As the cabin began to heat up, the spiders seemed to thaw out & began to visit us in various areas of the cabin. The outhouse hasn't been serviced since August 1st 2021. It was very full & disgusting. I normally read negative reviews with a large grain of salt and think "oh come on, it can't be that bad" but it was. At $50/night & an hour away from home, this cabin could be a really special treat. But unfortunately, the caretakers of the place don't really care & with that in mind our family will not be staying here again.

What an outstanding cabin and location! The gift of electricity and a well-outfitted cabin, all the essentials in the kitchen, plenty of fire wood for the wood stove and outside fire ring, and even baseboard heat to get the chill off while the wood stove heats up (which it does quickly!). The master bed is super comfy (bring a sheet to cover the mattress but your own bedding stuff like your sleeping bag/blankets to be extra comfy!), Lots of games and puzzles if you want, plenty of great light and the location just cannot be beat! Right on the American River, scoop up water to heat for doing the dishes and it minimizes the water you need to carry in. Plus there is water available at the nearby campground. So much to explore close-by or jump in a car and head to the Little Naches River area for miles of trails. 410 was still closed at Mt. Ranier so we'll have to hit that next time we go. Really loved this treasure. So well stocked with cleaning supplies to which made it super easy to clean up after the pups running in and out all day with wet paws. Just grabbed the mop and/or broom for a quick sweep-up! This is really a great treasure to enjoy. The outhouse is clean and there was a good stock of TP supplied. The outhouse even has a light! I think this is a first for me!!! And the extra key available in the event one was lost is such a great idea too. So thankful for these cabins and for the respect that guests show them when staying and then cleaning up when leaving. Thank you everyone for keeping our shared resources amazing!

The cabin was great, clean, comfortable. The wood was very wet, hard to keep the fire going.

Great place to relax!! Accommodations for 2 are perfect! Lack of privacy inside would make it challenging for more adults, but looks great for kids. From the main road, the area surrounding the cabin was very icy! Be prepared to park at the kiosk along Bumping River Road. Looking forward to coming back again in the summer! Remember to bring an axe to chop firewood!

This well worn cabin is in a beautiful setting with the river right outside. And, the area has a multitude of other rivers to fish and trails to hike. If you want to eat out, you can do so only a few miles down the road. Very nice time.
