First time exploring up above Beaver in the mountains and we loved it! Right next to the ranger station itself is where we saw the most wildlife. Elk, deer, and marmots provided entertainment while hanging around camp. And so many birds! I loved our stay and plan on coming back. We didn't turn on the solar power at all. Very clean cabin and outhouse, some cleaning supplies and toilet paper available. Chopped wood for campfire use available when we were there.

We LOVE this cabin! It is so beautiful there! We XC skied in with all of our gear and had a lovely two nights at the cabin. There was plenty of snow to melt for water, and we had a lovely day of snow play and skiing up around the Big Flat. We will be back!

I skied out to the cabin on February 20 and spent the rest of the day exploring the area. It was REALLY nice to have a nice cozy cabin on a cold snowy evening. There was plenty of firewood and the wood stove worked great. The propane burner was nice too. Only downside I could think of was that the electricity didn't work that well. Be prepared with your own lights. You'll also need to use a lighter or matches to get the burner started. Loved my stay overall.

We had a fantastic time! We cross country ski’d up the 3 miles from the road closure at Puffer Lake and enjoyed 2 nights in the cozy cabin with lots of fun surrounding slopes for skiing and playing in the snow. The cabin has a wood stove that heats the place up quickly and was well stocked with firewood, pots, pans, plates, mugs. The outhouse was clean and stocked with toilet paper. Between the two bedrooms combined, there are 3 sets of double-bed bunks, meaning 12 spots if two people are in each bed or 6 spots if one person is in each bed. The mattresses were stained but very comfortable and the cabin was nice and clean. There is also a propane burner, which was a nice surprise- we thought we would need to use our backpacker stoves but this was not the case. Highly recommend!

We had an excellent time. The views are incredible, the cabin is so well stocked and the fireplace was much needed in October! The mattresses were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Thanks!

The Big Flat Guard Station was a perfect location to watch the 2023 Annular Eclipse! There was plenty of space for our entire group to sleep between the bunks in the cabin and camping outside. There was so much firewood already provided and a great fire pit. The cabin was beautiful, clean, and cozy. No water or electricity, so we brought all our own. The single propane burner in the cabin was nice to have in addition to our stoves. The vault toilet was very clean. Lots of plates, pots, mugs, and utensils provided in the cabin. Comfy mattresses! The nearby hike up toward City Creek Peak was lovely. Overall, can't recommend this site enough! It was perfect for our larger group, and it would be lovely for a small one as well.

Great experience for our family. The cabin was clean and cozy and the beds were very comfortable. There are two twin sized bunk beds in one room and 1 full over full sized bunk bed in the other room. The windows do not have any curtains and did have quite a few bugs/spiderwebs in them, but that can be expected in a mountain cabin. The kitchen/living area had a large table that fit our large family around. There is a small single propane burner that was really nice to have available. There was a sink and lots of dishes and cooking utensils, but the water was not running at the time, so we did not use any of that. There are solar powered lights in each room, but they were very dim and more like a night light than anything. So definitely need lanterns and flashlights after dark. My favorite was the wood burning stove. There was plenty of chopped firewood for the fireplace as well as the fire pit outside. The bathroom was very clean and did not smell bad. The area around us was beautiful and we saw and heard lots of wildlife. We highly recommend this site and we will be visiting again, hopefully soon!

A most beautiful setting for a well appointed cabin in the woods.
