Clean, private. We used one of the trash receptacles as a bear box for a food cooler

Great camp site. Workers keeping it clean through the shutdown. We carried off all of our trash. Left some firewood.

We love this place. We’ve been staying here for 30 years. However, it has really gone down hill in the last few years. The grill has been rusted out for at three years. They felled a really big tree in the middle of the camp, which smashed a picnic table. They left the whole mess there, blocking one of the tent areas. The outhouse is always clean, and never stinky. Still a great place, but it needs some maintenance.

This campsite was perfect. Secluded but 10 minutes from all the Natural Bridge attractions. It was clean and the toilet was well stocked (bring your own hand sanitizer!). The creek running next to it was a pleasant surprise. Two fire pits, two gravel camping pads. The grill is rusted out, but we weren’t planning to use it anyway so no loss to us. Basically no cell service but that was just fine by us :-)

Love this place, we’ve been coming for years. The outhouse was nice and clean, with no odor. I’d give it five stars, except the grill is completely rusted out on both sides. We weren’t able to use it. It’s been that way for about two years.

Great camp. No water here so primitive in nature.

This is a beautiful website that we have camped out for multiple years when kayaking on the James River. Excellent hiking also nearby. The pit toilet was in good shape with lots of toilet paper. The staff appears to be keeping up the site well.

We love this place, we’ve been coming here for years. Last year it seemed a little neglected, but they cleaned it up this year. The big fire pit had been dug out, and there were new trash containers. The restroom was clean for an outhouse, and it didn’t smell bad. It’s a nice, modern outhouse. This is a primitive site, no potable water, or electricity. The creek is lovely, although in the late summer it can get pretty low. The kids and dogs love the creek. We bring lawn and board games, and just relax. The are numerous great hiking trails nearby, including the Appalachian trail, and lots of breweries and wineries. Cave Mountain Lake Campground, another US Forest site is just up the road, and has a nice swimming and fishing pond, and showers available. There is a day use fee for the campground. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a reasonable distance away, about 30 minutes on nice fire roads. I’ve been told the Dinosaur Kingdom is not to be missed, and the Virginia Safari Park is really cool. A drive through zoo, with a small walk through section of smaller animals. We did notice that the entrance sign and the information board were missing this year. I’m assuming they’re being updated and will be replaced. The Glenwood and Pedlar Ranger Station is nearby, oped on weekdays with lots of information about hiking trails and the Jefferson National Forest. The best thing about this is that there are no other people there at all. Just your group, and Mother Nature.

Great camp area. Bring water though.
