Unfortunately we were unable to stay the night due to the weather, but we were able to go up the next morning and it was beautiful! I am glad we still went up. The place is well kept and mostly clean besides the MILLION of dead flies. I read the reviews before our visit and thought people might be exaggerating, they are not. We had to sweep the floor and all surfaces before settling in. The area is so peaceful and pretty. The last couple of miles up require 4 wheel drive. Worth the visit!

Access up to the lookout was tricky. Must have high clearance and 4 wheel drive with good tires for the last few miles. Hats off to Van, left a note informing us he cleaned the place up, the guests before him left a very nice mess of the place, even attracted a few mice, which our traps made quick work of. Flies were minimal for us, but others have complained about numerous dead flies in the cabin, which we could certainly believe. At best, bring some fly traps with you if this is of concern to you. Views are spectacular up there, and lots of animals, particularly mule deer, are not afraid to get up close to the cabin to graze. Especially important, BRING MEANS TO CHOP FIREWOOD FOR YOURSELF. High winds make it very cold in the evenings, no firewood is kept in reserve for guests(but we tried to do so for whoever comes after us). The wood stove in the cabin works very well for heating inside. Expect visitors from time to time, people we encountered respected our space, but some may not be so considerate.

It was a great get-away for my wife and I. The only two problems were the hundreds of flies that greeted us as we opened it up, and the very hard mattresses - both minor issues.

Mattresses and blinds need help. Otherwise it was outstanding!
