Our second trip to McKeever cabin. This time in the snow! Enjoyed snowshoeing to and around for the weekend. The wood burning stove kept the cabin very cozy and warm. Well was frozen so did have to filter water from nearby stream to supplement our supply. Well worth the drive from downstate.

The cabin was in great shape, and the surrounding areas are beautiful. I am curious what the stacks of wood with layers of plastic tarp material are around the cabin.

This place was great. The hike in was a little long since we weren’t planning on it, but it was all worth it. Extremely remote and surrounded by nature.

Great cabin, perfect for a rustic getaway while still having a comfortable bed and heat. Please, don't be like us, and pack light if you plan on skiing in. The trail is harder than you think if you're pulling a sled full of heavy things. They supply wood, so don't worry about that. I was told the water pump sometimes freezes, but it was not frozen for us. Drink water, regardless. We got a little dehydrated after the ski in, and a hot a fire going.

Truly a winter wonderland. I do not know if I have ever experienced the type of silence I did in the snow covered McKeever Hills. Pack light in winter. It is a bit of a trek in two feet of snow from the road.
