This was a great weekend at McKeever cabin. Got to explore more of the Hiawatha National Forest and go fishing on McKeever llake with my new inflatable boat and my beagles. Early May was still cold so I got to try out the wood stove to stay warm and prepare a meal on the stove.

We had a great experience at the cabin! There was a little confusion at first about which path to take once you park. When driving in you pass a gate - this is the path to the cabin. You can't park there so you drive a little further to where you park. We just dropped our gear at the gate, then parked. If you have room to bring a wagon, it will make life easier as others have noted. The toilet was well stocked with TP, the wood shed has a good stock of wood along with an axe to split if needed. The lake bottom is sand (despite the black stuff - it is very thin).

Great spot. Only complaint is you can’t drive up so you have to hike all your stuff in so pack accordingly unlike me. Absolutely beautiful and I will be back
