The cabin was fairly neat and clean, and finding it was easy with the sign after the cattle guard. The gate was stuck in snow half open and it was sometimes interesting getting a snowmobile through, and turning around was sometimes troublesome, but quite doable. There were mantels on all of the gas lamps, and a couple spares. The wood shed was full of large rounds, bringing an axe is a good idea. The gas wall heater had a broken thermocouple and wouldn't turn on, and the damper knob on the wood stove wasn't working right, but it warmed it up fine. If you tack a tarp to separate the living and dining room from the bedrooms, the temperature is quite nice. The gas stovetop worked fine, but the oven didn't quite want to light. Aside from heater issues, it's quite cozy and nice, and the view is incredible. The table works great for board games, and there is plenty of seating.

The cabin is pretty fun in winter, propane lights and stove work great. The propane heater hasn't worked in years and the oven doesn't work; wood stove heats the place pretty good unless it's very cold outside. There is plenty of firewood left but nothing to split the large logs with so be sure to bring an axe or maul. There's no padding provided on the beds and no kitchen supplies so bring everything you need. Excellent drinking water from the nearby stream, needs filtered or boiled.

W’ve stayed in 3 Forest Service Cabins and always enjoyed them. This had so much to over with the huge yard and amenities. It was nice and clean. If I have a suggestion it would be to put a mop and bucket up there. Thanks

The Cub river guard station cabin. Is the so family friendly for adults as for kids. It is nothing but good Tim's awY fromm traffic and dust. I wish I could get it at least 3 times a year. Best choice in idaho.

Easy to get to, we hiked in over the snow. It was good for our group of young men. We spent the morning snowshoeing on the trail across the road from the cabin. The cabin was clean and tidy. Thanks.
