Seems there are problems with the oil heating stove almost every time I have rented the cabin. This year, the stove was leaking fuel out of one of the fittings. Very unpleasant smell and had to empty a plastic bowl someone had placed beneath the leak often. All my gear and the gear of my guests reeked of fuel oil after our stay. I called Sitka Ranger District to report it, but have not received a response to the message I left for Rebecca, who is apparently in charge of the cabin.

Arrived via UTV. Waited for several minutes for the valet to get my door. Valet never showed. I’m not sure place even has one. Had to park myself. If that wasn’t bad enough there was no bellboy on duty. Had to unload not only my own and my dog’s luggage. Was starving. Searched for a room service menu and isn’t one. Wouldn’t be of any use anyway because room doesn’t have a telephone to call front desk. Figures, they probably don’t have anybody at front desk to answer. Had to build a fire in the fire ring and cook my own dinner. After dinner I wanted a nice hot shower. You might get a cold shower but only if it rains…which it will since it’s smack in the middle of a rain forest. Hot tub?… ya right. Not even a bath tub. Want to go to the bathroom you had better bring boots because my fuzzy slippers get destroyed walking 50 yards to the shack with hole in ground they call a bathroom. No bidet. I repeat- there is no bidet here. Be prepared wipe one’s own back side with paper. One nice thing this place has going for it is the location just off the beach. The waves pound mercilessly all day and night if there is a storm. I walked down to the water thinking at least there would be some lounge chairs by the beach bar. There was neither. Doesn’t look like there ever was. Driftwood and sand is all this beach has to offer. Bring a chair. Slightly perturbed at the lack of service I pouted my way to bed. Holy smokes what a surprise I got. 1000 thread count sheets? 600 count? Neither. Not even a mattress. All you get is a flat piece of plywood to sleep on. Forget about a pea princess! Don’t bring an inflatable and your going to sleep on the slab. Fortunately I had one and of course I travel with my own bedding. Who uses those hotel sheets anyway. No loss there. Overall this place just offers four walls, an oil heater (bring your own oil) and one of the best locations in the world. I’ll be back again. Loved it

The cabin was nice and clean and the stove worked and there is a new outhouse that has good ventelation and is nice and clean. Users help preserve the outhouse and keep the lid down when not in use and never put plastic of any kind in outhouse. Didn't use the outdoor fire pit but note to other users dont burn your garbage or cans in the fire pit It puts all kinds of nasty contaminates into the surounding area. Please help keep the place pristine and healthy and pack out what you pack in. Absouloutly love this area and enjoyed listening to the surf and all the fresh ocean air. Truly a little piece of heaven here on earth.

Stove was broken and looked to have been attempted to be fixed by a previous renter. It was a cold, wet four nights.
