Garbage sitting in fire pit from other users; could not have fire due to Stage 2, bummer to have graffiti on walls and ceiling. Out house is a REAL outhouse-- needs to be moved, re-dug, and repaired. Great to have screens on the windows and front door of the cabin, and no mice!

The Cabin was in good condition, and was a very nice place to stay. The road in to the cabin is a trail not a road. You can drive to the cabin with some driving skills and a capable off road vehicle, we drove a Jeep and a Toyota. If you do not like to drive off road then you may think about the hike in from the campgrounds. We hiked the 4.5 mile trail from the cabin to Big Pozega Lake, and then back. There were a few un invited visitors that stopped by the cabin on their way up the trail, but overall the cabin was very clean and quiet. We will be back! Thank you Forrest Service for the great experience.

Loved this rustic cabin. We did have to cut fallen trees off the road, must have chainsaw. Good fishing for Brooke trout right at the cabin, creek is amazing. Saw a Grizz on the road when riding the ATV. Road to cabin is really a Jeep trail, be ready for adventure!

We visited Racetrack Cabin during the coldest week of the year and still loved it. The directions didn’t work for us - references to a plowed road aren’t helpful when there is no plowed road! (We parked near the first cattle guard.) There isn’t great signage but our best guidance is - once you cross the creek a second time, you’re about a mile away. This is our fourth winter cabin stay (third cabin) and the first ever to not have split wood. We always travel with an ax so it didn’t impact us but we could not have stayed if we hadn’t brought our own. Available firewood was quite low and we tried to use as responsibly as possible. The cabin supplies are sparse in general - plan to bring what you need and don’t assume the usual items are available. Our only request would be a glass window in the wood stove door so we could have had both light and heat. :) no complaints here, just want to help those who come behind to plan accordingly. It was quite an adventure and we’d love to return to check out the area in another season. Thanks for making this gem available.
