MOSQUITO WARNING!! While the cabin itself was quite nice and cozy, and the area is gorgeous, our group encountered by far the most mosquitos any of us had ever experienced in our lives. I feel I need to add that while we are not rugged survivalists, all of us have been campers (nearly solely tent campers) for most of our lives. This includes areas of wilderness across numerous states, at different times of the year. In addition, my sister and brother in law lived for several years in an area of south Texas known for a high concentration of mosquitos. None of us were new to the experience of dealing with these pests. In our group we had three different varieties of mosquito repellent as well as several citronella candles. However, EVERY time we left the cabin we were SWARMED with mosquitos. We scrapped a planned evening around the fire, as even a lit fire did not diminish the number. Thankfully the cabin itself accommodated us well, as we tried to leave it as little as possible during our trip. Packing/Unpacking was particularly terrible as there was no escape. Each of us ran to and from our cars to avoid being repeatedly bitten. Also, as we all drove home, a handful of mosquitos happened to sneak into our cars and were biting us during our drives home. Personally I stopped counting bites on myself after the number exceeded 50. This was over a one night period, with repeated applications of different repellants, and while trying to actively AVOID being outside. Without exaggeration, we experienced exponentially more mosquitos than any of us ever had. While perhaps we just had unfortunate timing, be aware of a possibly different trip than you may have planned for.

Really pretty spot. The Gas heater went out on us during the night and so we left early morning the next day when the cabin was a whopping 39 degrees inside. Wish there was a wood fireplace inside.
