Filthy, dead flies everywhere, place stank, mattresses filthy with dead flies. We wound up sleeping in our tent in the yard.

The cabin has a bad fly problem. It needs to be cleaned and the flies dealt with.

Lovely setting, comfortable space. Great for hikes and walks and awesome starwatching. A little decadent to have an automatic coffee maker and a toaster oven... but it sure is nice. Yep, the flies were annoying (but a few minutes work with a swatter dealt with them); and without water cleaning wasn't as easy.

This cabin was so filthy that it was barely habitable. The cushions for the couch and chair are just plain nasty, had to cover before we could sit on them. The floor tiles came off when I tried to vacuum. Grass grown high around the cabin and ticks in the grassy area because of the high grass. I couldn’t move the beds to clean so there was tons of filth and dirt under and around the bed. We spent the first night in town because of the filth. Also had to drive 20 plus miles one way, with a carsick child, to call the Forest Service because I couldn’t get the combination to work to get back into the cabin. I was told that the lock was tricky and I needed to “manhandle” it. There was a fan in the cabin that clearly hadn’t worked in years. The description says all the rental money collected for the cabins was put into maintain the cabins…I’d like to know where that money is used! Very, very disappointing!

Nice, cute place, and great that it has electricity. Lights are a little harsh so if you want atmosphere bring your own. Bedrooms are small but beds comfy.

Fortunately, we DID NOT encounter the massive amount of flies spoken about in other reviews. Maybe because we were there in early spring. The odd thing is we did find dead flies in the cabin on our arrival and the few that came in during our stay immediately died. It was a simply marvelous stay. The area is stunning, the roads were clear. There was a light dusting of snow the first day and then sunshine! Saw a bear print while exploring around the cabin, listened to the wild turkeys every morning! Tank and DJ (dogs) loved their stay also. Thank you for allowing dogs here! We will definitely return!! Thank you rangers for allowing people to rent these historical buildings.

This was a fun overnight getaway! A few reviews mention the bugs, but those weren't too bad for us -- just a few flies every once in a while. Next time we'll take some air freshener (I think it had been closed up for awhile). The beds weren't the best, but we were tired so slept fine. We will rent it again!

Secluded, clean, quiet, the perfect place to unplug and relax. It snowed every day (lightly), the snow plow came by as needed. The cabin is roughly 15 miles from town, and yet a world away 😉 bring some firewood, food and water, maybe a good book. There's a creek/ river within a stones throw, there's hiking, there's a place to hang your latest hunting results.
