This was our sixth visit in ten years and as usual, perfect. We enjoyed many hikes, reading and relaxing. We appreciate the care renters and Forest Service personnel give to keep the cabin in such good condition. People coming for the first time should know there is a coffee maker, microwave, toaster along with a few plates and cups. Since there isn't a water supply, suggest bringing disposable dinnerware. Stove door is broken and the heater in the main room doesn't work. Forest Service has this on their list to be addressed. The Muddy Guard Cabin is a gem.

Clean, rustic, open and quiet. A true slice of Americana.

Enjoyed time. Was disappointed that someone has already broken the oven door. So, it does not seal. Did like the new bunk beds, but would rather be able to drop them down, especially with littles. (Ladders bolted down). The two electric heaters one in small bedroom blows only cold air, other in kitchen doesn't do anything. Fireplace is nice for heating, but don't always want to use with littles. I have enjoyed this cabin over the years. Very relaxing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Even though it was -11 degrees one morning and -13 degrees another outside, the woodstove was able to keep us warm. It's a nice little cabin that has a lot of history. The Forest Service has maintained it well.

This is a wildly beautiful place. There are several trailheads within an hour. No cell service whatsoever.

Cabin was clean and well equipped, we had a great time! Make sure to check out the Crazy Woman Canyon just next door. We also hiked the trail to James T. Saban Fire Lookout, short, but challenging, great views of the area.
