Our experience at Indian Flats was great. We were able to drive to the first switchback and snowmobiled the rest of the way. We arrived at dusk and immediately built a roaring fire. The stove in the cabin works well and heated up the tiny space quickly. The cabin is small and cozy. Well stocked with dishes and cooking equipment. The propane cook stove worked well. We cleaned up the cabin as previous users had left candles that were burned down, empty Gatorade bottles, and empty propane canisters. Once we tidied up, the cabin left larger. During our time there, we shoveled out the picnic table area, wiped down all the surfaces and the cookstove. We also emptied the stove for the next guests. While there were signs of mice; we did not see any. The trap that was set under the bunk was empty. We had plenty of snow and great weather for exploring. We rode down the road to the junction of Trout Creek and he Vigilante campground trail. We also braved the wind and rode to the top of Hogback. We had a great three and half days at Indian Flats. We will visit this cabin again during the summer to enjoy the wildflowers and mountain biking. Thank you USFS for the cabin rental program.

Very homey place with great views nearby. Roads in are rough, no problem in my Raptor but family sedans may want to rethink it. Bathroom was really nice. Kids loved it!

Left clean by previous guest. Surrounded by many hiking trails. Nicest outhouse ever! Pots & pans adequate. SUV traveling slowly made it to the door.

I visited the cabin via the Vigilante Campground and FS trail 270 to FR road 138 from 3/27-3/28. Trail 270 was very icy in patches, and spikes are a must. Road 138 was mostly clear of snow until approximately mile 6, when snow begins to thicken to about 6 inches. Walking to the cabin was very do-able, and the snow was considerably more melted out on Sunday the 28th. Would advise bringing along snowshoes just in case. The cabin itself was very clean and well-maintained with board games, a functional cook stove, lots of wood in the woodshed, and plenty of utensils, pots, and pans. The Indian Flats area is still quite snowy with many large drifts, and having snowshoes would make exploring that area a bit easier. This is a beautiful little cabin, and the hike in has some stunning views! I'll definitely be coming back in the future.

We found the cabin clean an the outhouse was close and clean too. We did have At least one mouse and were careful not to have food out. I would set traps next time. We didn’t really see signs of mice prior though. We hope to do this again. Thank you!

Beautiful cabin tucked into a small valley. Watch out for cows along the way. Highly recommend stopping at for a hike at Refrigerator Canyon if you are in the area.

This was definitely a highlight for us. The cabin was exactly as expected and the peacefulness of nature was incredible. Something to be aware of, as you climb the mountain the gravel gets sharper; we ended up puncturing a tire and had to put on the spare. Cell service is weak if non-existent, so be prepared for anything. Will definitely be booking for our next road trip through that region.
