The boat is on life support. Cabin in good shape. Had a bear harvest several pinks in the little stream just east of the cabin. Never saw the bear. Thousands of pinks in the lake and inlet and outlet streams. Best fishing for dollies and cut throat was at the “Lagoon” before the tide rushes in.

Beautiful location. Difficult to reach. Ramp still broken. Boat in VERY bad shape. Cabin in real good shape. Prior guests have left it in good order, clean, along with leaving some “kitchen hardware”. Multiple pots/pans/coffee pot/fish grill basket/spatula/axe/tarps/4stainless martini glasses/etc. Kindling left but no/very little wood supply and difficult to scavenge enough. The diesel heater leaked fumes/smoke into the cabin badly, a serious issues in cold weather (rained 5 days all day for us) but nonissue otherwise.

Great cabin and great location! The broken ramp is really in the way … any plans to fix it or move it? Also, consider taking off the handicapped accessible notifications from the web site due to broken ramp?

Wonderful experience! It would be great if the dock ramp could get fixed though.

Very beautiful lake. The cabin itself is in great shape. The dock is unusable. The boat is on its last days. Fishing by the cabin was not good for us. Oddly, for a remote place, the trail to Hanus Bay at the outlet had lots of tourists and guided fly fishing groups. Sitka is getting cruise ships with over 500,000 visitors this summer and the Lake Eva trail is on their "to do" list.

Well maintained cabin terrifically situated. The ice on the lake had just melted. Water very very cold. Good dollie fishing. Oil stove worked great as did fire pit on deck. Cabin was clean and in good condition. Johnboat which comes with cabin is heavy but very stable. The lake is small enough that we had no trouble rowing the boat without using a motor. The oarlocks and oars have seen better days. The only thing that keeps me from rating the cabin as excellent is that the metal ramp to the float was damaged in storms and is not hooked up. A float plane can't get to the shore. We flew in wearing our waters in order to unload without getting soaked in a frigid lake. Saw no bears but I supposed there's still in the hills because there are no salmon in the inlet and outlet streams.

Cabin in exceptional condition; no leftover food. No mice. Boat leaky but serviceable. Oil stove works like a champ. Lots of windows with vents, and skylights and decks. Saw bears fishing, sleeping, swimming. Caught many big fat silvers, mainly from boat around lake outlet, but also at head of lagoon and above falls. Cutthroat very abundant. Lake came up 3 feet while I was there.

I’ve stayed at this cabin off and on for many decades and have always loved the old cabin and now the new one. The lake is as beautiful as ever. The boat ramp and dock are now unusable due to the failed connection fittings are a major negative for float plane operations. The efforts to make this a handicap accessible cabin are void since planes must tie to trees next to the cabin and shallow water prevents the plane from reaching the shore, even when turned around. I would rate this cabin as 5* if the ramp and dock were fixed.

Great place to experience life and beauty of SE Alaska rainforest. Fishing’s good for cuts and dollies. Cabin is set in a great location and is in great shape. Great trail along river to saltwater but is only accessible by boat from the cabin. Bring a little outboard as this will make it easy to access the trail and explore the lake
