Kentucky Camp is a gem. It's not luxurious, but it doesn't advertise itself as such. It's got everything you need and is only a 20 minute drive from Sonoita and lots of wineries. The house is cozy and the beds are comfortable. Sure, there are mice, but that's to be expected for a 100+ year old building. The Arizona Trail runs right past the cabin and we met a few hikers - one we even knew from back home! A nice part about the cabin is that there's no traffic driving past since the road is gated .2 miles from the cabin. Highly recommend for those who enjoy simple living.

We had two nights reserved at the cabin. It is VERY rustic. We decided to leave early evening without spending our second night there. It was reasonably clean, considering you are dependent on the previous tenants to clean it before leaving; and who knows how often it is professionally cleaned (if ever). There was some evidence of mice droppings here and there. All in all, just has a rather gross, well-used feeling about it. It was very nice to explore the adjacent AZ trail for a few miles. Cool to wander around the Camp and check things out. Wouldn't spend the money to stay at the cabin again. But will definitely return to Kentucky Camp to explore more.

It's not camping. It's not glamping (thank goodness). It's in between cuz the beds are basic and you do them up yourselves. You cook outside no matter the weather (the new grill is great btw) though there is a hotplate...it's definitely 1950's vintage. Microwave is functional. It was chilly this time around and the pilot light on the heater was out, but the electric heaters were adequate. Temps in the 40's late November. We bring our banjos up cuz the adobe block kitchen is wonderful acoustically. Makes a great mini-recording studio.

This cabin was very quaint and homey. The caretakers for the museum building were very friendly and knowledgeable. We were here during the fall so no heat was necessary. The beds were very comfortable but not so much the futon. This cabin is situated on the Arizona Trail and you can follow it in two directions. Fall is a beautiful time to stay at this cabin and experience the leaves changing color. Vault toilets and the cabin were very clean.

We had a great experience at Kentucky Camp. The cabin is rustic, but very comfortable. The cabin was clean but I would recommend you take sheets or blankets to cover the mattresses (assuming you are using a sleeping bag). The porch and rocking chairs were very nice after a day of hiking. And, the camp host was a great host and answered all of our questions.

The building was pretty gross. People had left food inside, so there were mouse droppings all over the kitchen area, throughout the dishes and appliances. Several of the bunks were covered in what appeared to be blood (!!) which was both disturbing and downright unsafe. Luckily there were just two of us, so we didn't need to use those bunks. All the water spigots froze overnight, which I suppose we should have foreseen given the temperatures--so it's wise to plan ahead and fill water jugs for the morning. The grill did not work. Pit toilets were clean. In a pinch this was a warm place to sleep. The gas fireplace kept it cozy overnight.

The cabin was quaint and clean. The toilet didn't smell and was also clean. The porch provided a great viewing area for the sunrise and sunset. There were adequate cooking and cleaning supplies. The only downfall was that the refrigerator didn't get that cold.

We liked this cabin, but, the hotplate there needs to be replaced - it was old and DANGEROUS to use. We turned it on and the cord got so hot we were afraid to use it. Also, please replace the beds in the cabin, they are very dirty. Other than that, the camp host was really nice and we liked the cabin and the area.
