Comfortable beds, good appliances in kitchen with new small refrigerator & freezer. Kitchen light switch is wonky, needs to be replaced. Heavy rain while we were there, stayed warm & cozy. Stovepipe in living room did leak water from roof. Appreciated a few improvements from last visit; rocking chairs on porch, extra hooks on all doors and on/off switch for back porch. Gas grill was hooked up with propane, but did not heat up past 250*. Overall great 3 nights at this special place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our several-night stay at Kentucky Camp. Since we had been backpacking, the cabin seemed quite luxurious with electricity, a small refrigerator, microwave and a hotplate along with assorted kitchen gear. Potable water is right outside in a kitchen sink. We didn't see any mice, but we did secure our food at night just in case we had visitors. The outhouse was a nice surprise - a really new USFS style unit - very clean and with toilet paper. We even used the solar shower, a great treat! Steve, the caretaker, was a great source of knowledge and we enjoyed hanging out on the porch with him while enjoying our morning coffee. We met a few through-hikers and bikers and we were able to share some of our extra snacks with them and hear their stories. We found the cabin to be a relaxing place to stay and mid-week in April it was very quiet and serene. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice get away in the Arizona desert.

Had a great time at Kentucky Camp and the surrounding environs. Fun to see and speak with some of the Through-Hikers on the Arizona Trail. The beautiful surroundings of the Sonoita Hills are sooooo gorgeous. The cabin had its own charmingly rustic atmosphere. The separate gravity toilet was in really wonderful shape and had no odor. Mark, the caretaker, was really superb = present and congenial, but never hovering. Highly recommended spot for someone(s) seeking peace and quiet.

How many other ghost towns can you rent for an overnight stay?? Kentucky Camp is wonderful, historic, rustic, remote experience.

If I write a bad review does it mean no one else will visit and I can have this amazing and magical place to myself? The cabin is not lux, it's not "well appointed". The walls are made of earth, you can smell the years, and I'm pretty sure there many more non-human residents living under the roof than we can count. But absolutely nothing beats sitting on that creaky porch looking over the oak woodlands and watching a spectacular Arizona sunset. It's more like deluxe camping so as long as you're prepared to be outdoors even when your indoors, you'll have a great time! Don't forget to get a hike in on the Arizona National Scenic Trail. This is one of the most scenic segments!

We LOVE Kentucky Camp. Sadly, I fell and fractured my wrist. We had leave fast and early. Forgive us if we didn't clean as thoroughly as usual.
