If you don’t mind no electricity (there is gas), and an outhouse bathroom, then this place is great. Great access to Big Springs area

This is a great little cabin that suited our needs perfectly. They views are spectacular and it is close to some awesome trailheads.

The cabin was great. Everything was working properly and it was clean. I would suggest lots of soft bedding in your pack in list. Other than that I was so impressed with everything. Loved it so much!

I had a great stay at the Guard Station this past week, just myself and my two dogs. It's isolated, yet not isolated; the Big Springs Campground is nearby, in addition to private cabins and boondocking camp sites along the road. During the summer there are grazing cattle just around the corner and of course the always present ATVs that were mostly just annoying and didn't detract from my stay. The creek near the cabin is hard to get to as there is massive amounts of willows and the ground is soft under foot. You can access the creek much easier by going down to Big Springs or along the road on the way to the cabin. The amenities are as described, and worked perfectly: propane stove/oven, hot/cold running water, shower and propane lighting. There is limited cookware and dishes, I didn't use them but if I had forgotten something it's nice to know they are there. Pro tip: bring a sleeping pad or other cushioning if you intend on using the bunk beds. I used doubled up sleeping bags and blankets and it was fairly comfortable. There are lots of flying insects and mice can be a problem, although none were present during my stay, just evidence of prior occupation. I was able to get a cell signal at the top of the driveway (t-moble) and was able to check my messages a couple times a day. There is an old barn and corral area and a dilapidated workshop/garage that can be explored, in addition to the cow camp next door. During my stay there were plenty of wildflower blooming and tons of birds if you are into birding. if you bring your dog they will have a blast exploring and sniffing everything.

Wonderful surroundings. Isolated enough for our family to feel separate from the millions of others who were camped along the creek and at the campground. Cabin was awesome. It was great to have running water! The outhouse smelled like hand sanitizer and NOT like an outhouse! That was a big plus!
