The shower was unusable because the handle was broken. The stove also had several wires with notes attached saying "Do Not Use" or "Not in Use," which made it seem unsafe or unreliable. In addition, most of the window coverings were broken, allowing a large number of bugs to get into the cabin at night. Getting to the cabin was also challenging. Make sure you follow the correct directions and take the correct road. We accidentally took the wrong route and encountered a locked gate, which forced us to drive all the way around the mountain and added about 45 minutes to our trip. There is no T-Mobile cell service at the cabin, so be prepared if you rely on your phone. You also need to bring all of your own supplies, including trash bags. There is no convenient place nearby to dispose of your trash, which made cleanup difficult. Overall, the cabin was not as expected, and we decided to leave two days early. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again.

This was a great campsite in a great location. We were able to have a larger group here. We did not use the facility to sleep in, but it was nice to have as we had one day in which we have bad weather in the morning. It is a beautiful area and would come back again. Camp host came by one day and was extremely friendly to our group. Let us know that if we needed anything where to find him and he would take care of us.

The water in the cabin was a great source. The camp host was super friendly and helpful. Only thing I wish was better is it would be nice if there was more parking at or near the trailheads near the camping spots. Makes it hard to come up and hike for the day with no where to park. Other than that is was great! Highly recommend this location.

Major Fly Issue!!! My family and I drove up to the cabin and had a pleasant time, until we opened the cabin up to see HUNDREDS of flies either dead or hibernating for the winter. They were covering the floors, table, counter space, and window sills; and I mean COVERING. We cleaned as much as possible to have a good experience but once the fire was started the flies were waking up; 5 turned into 10, then 15, and then they were biting myself, spouse, and dog. We left after 2-3 hours of staying and fly biting. If there were no fly issue it would have been better, but it needs serious attention to get rid of these flies and fast. We stayed in late fall/early winter.

If you don’t mind no electricity (there is gas), and an outhouse bathroom, then this place is great. Great access to Big Springs area

We really enjoyed out time at the guard station. It was not very clean but that was expected. We were advised that the propane heater did not work so we were prepared with our own heat source. Overall, it is an excellent place to stay. It is very beautiful there.
