Despite its location on the edge of a marsh and warm late May temperatures, there were no flies or mosquitos to speak of, just a chorus of frogs and birds from dawn til dusk. There is some highway noise but it is blocked somewhat by the embankment, and traffic dies down considerably at night. The cabin is well furnished and the kitchen has most of the accessories needed to prepare decent meals, especially the gas stove and oven. The coffee maker is slow and could use a dose of vinegar or other acid cleanser. The indoor fireplace is not functional, replaced instead by a propane heater whose lowest recommended setting still produces fan noise. Many of us hiked to the falls up the Bond Creek Trail and boated on the lake. On the last day, the water had receded enough that I could walk across the previously inundated road to the viewing platform in the middle of the marsh before dawn, allowing me to view and photograph a verdant world inhabited by herons, ducks, and geese as the rising sun cast a golden hue across the landscape.

Spacious, well-kept cabin that's positively luxurious by Forest Service cabin standards. Everything we needed was stocked (TP, cleaning supplies, etc). And it's great for small kids because it's so easy to get to, there's no wood stove heating, and there are lots of games and toys.
