Beautiful place. Fantastic location! Kitchen apparently updated (according to the current photos). Very clean - well equipped. No evidence of rodents. A little disappointed we could not have an outside fire, but understand considering the fire risks. Wish we had had more time for a longer stay. Will rent again!

Cabin was clean and had all the basics. Sweet little piece of history. Great spot for walks and hikes. Beautiful oak groves nearby. We were happy campers.

This was our first stay at Shaw House, as we've always stayed in the campground on previous trips to Cochise Stronghold. We spent a relaxing three days and really enjoyed the place. The house is large, with comfortable beds and a very well-equipped kitchen (lacking only in coffee mugs--bring your own if you need more than two!). Everything was quite clean when we arrived, though you are a bit at the mercy of the people who precede you. Recreation.gov said the limit on cars was two, but info at the house said four, and there was indeed plenty of room to park. We enjoyed the notebook full of the history of the area, working a couple of the furnished jigsaw puzzles, picking jujubes from the tree just outside the front gate, watching deer wander by, and hiking out of the nearby forest service campground. The only drawback was the smoke alarm going off in the middle of the second night--it took some work to get it detached so we could get back to sleep. All in all, a great stay!

Lovely, rambling, stone cabin in a quiet location. Saw lots of deer in the pasture, birds in the trees.
