Amazing week at Shrode Lake Cabin. Stove worked great. Rowboat has a small hole in the back where water comes in. Cut up a kerosene jug to bail it out and left it in the boathouse. We mostly used a packraft to access the lake, ocean and other side of the lagoon. Packraft opened up options to explore. Fish were running up river and waterfall, so dinner was excellent. Wildlife included many Bald eagles, a couple bear, seals, salmon and a chubby porcupine.

Spent a week at the cabin, temps around or below freezing and Cabin worked out great, we took a boat in, was about a 2 mile hike in from the drop off point with a the river crossing. used about 8 gallons of fuel for the heater that was running mainly at night and late evenings. From the cabin we hiked miles in every direction throughout the week, beautiful place. Just a note to add have a secondary exit plan, where the boat dropped us at froze over and we were unable to go out the way we came in but made it work going out long bay. Would love to go back and stay again.

First, I want to say, this review must be taken in context. I have many negatives to say, but I also got my first black bear hunting out of this cabin, so all-in-all the trip was a milestone/lifetime memory experience. -the kerosene heater is worthless. It radiates almost no heat whatsoever. Was not able to keep the cabin warm (in June) or dry our wet gear out each day. This was very disappointing as we were counting on it to do so. Needs a built in fan to disperse the heat or some insulation to capture the heat. It would also be great if the cabin had some simple instructions posted for the heater. And the website could list the model number to look up ahead of time. -the trail was totally non-existent from the lagoon at Long Bay to the cabin. We made our way as best we could in the deep snow, at great effort. on the last day, one member of our group managed to find a sign pointing to the cabin that was obscured in the trees and deep snow. No discernable trail could be found from that sign however. There should be flags or markers of some sort that can be seen in winter or spring snow conditions. -there was no sign for the outhouse location in the cabin. Because the outhouse is up and over a hill and not visible from the cabin, again, in the woods, it would be helpful if there was as sign or arrow or marker of any sort to indicate where it is. (one that can be seen in all seasons) -slept comfortably. Very scenic. Beautiful and peaceful setting. Great deck for enjoying the lake and sun. -Very neat spot, lots of snow as stated, truly a difficult access until July.
