Please see our past review from September 19, 2021 for more detailed info. More below for this visit. We are taking off a star for this visit as the rear window has been broken out. In the journals it seems it has been like this for over 6 weeks. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Also, there was hardly any firewood so thankfully we had brought some and left enough for a few more guests. It's a rough drive for a car up to Vipond Park but it's really worth it! You also can see the road to the cabin and look down at the charcoal kilns from up there. Got to see some moose up there too. Bring some waders or high boots to hike the creek up the canyon. It was a blast! There were only about 6 pages left in the journal so if somebody could bring a blank hardcover book for future guests it would be appreciated. We remembered how bad the windows were so we brought razor blade scrapers and window cleaner and spent a lot of time getting the windows cleaned. Did not get the outside windows that were covered with nailed down screens though. Still we made a huge improvement.

RENT NOW! PRICE INCREASE! Starting next year the price is going from $20 to $45 a night + any $8 reservation fee so more than doubling. You can get there in a car but the past 5 miles are going to be fun. Car may bottom out several times. No Verizon service at cabin. About 6.3 miles before you get to the cabin at the top of a hill will be your last service if you follow the USFS directions in. You will also will pass the old Glendale smelter and the charcoal kilns on the way in. Stop by the kilns to learn about them. Lowlifes have shot into the pit toilet at the kiln. Honestly what goes through people's heads? Here is something nice for people let's mess it up? Only cabin I have ever been at that has emergency supplies including food and tools. GOOD JOB! Wood heater. A few games. Has a hitching post for horses. Has a sink and drains outside but no water. Has two 2 burner propane stoves that use standard small cylinder propane camping fuel. Had one propane light but as is the case the mantles were gone. Always carry mantles with you. 2 sets of bunk beds but no ladder to climb up if you are older and not physically able. Could stand on a chair if needed. Good amount of cooking items. Fire pit with picnic table. Very nice ADA vault toilet that looks newer. Good size porch. Nice view of the steep hills nearby. Some walking area behind the cabin and toilet. Creek nearby but you have to follow livestock paths between the willows to get there. Floor easy to sweep as it is plywood sheets instead of individual planks. Very little traffic on road that went up hillside when we were there which was nice. Locked gate for privacy. We really enjoyed this serene location and would stay again especially before the rate goes up if we lived nearby.
