We have been to this lookout before and we always enjoy it. However, we were not informed the gate would be locked this time. It would be useful to have a gate key or combo lock to all ease of carrying equipment. Otherwise, we would have planned to just bring backpacking gear.

There was no keypad door code in the reservation email so I wasn’t even able to get inside. I didn’t have any service at the lookout and the phone number for the call facility option wasn’t working when I did have service.

Great location with an awesome trail right from the lookout, VERY rough 4 mi road to get there, 4x4 for sure. Also there were several people that came up the road while we were there, so you want to keep the gate shut.
