Great location on a beautiful meadow. Newer outhouse just outside cabin was in great condition. The cabin itself needs a little TLC on the interior. The mattresses are ancient and completely broken down, plan to bring some sleeping pads or air mattresses to use. The walls and ceilings are extremely soot stained due to years of misuse of the wood stove. Some directions for using the wood stove for those unfamiliar with wood stoves would probably help this. It's pretty dark in the cabin so bring some flashlights or lanterns for evenings. We've stayed at other cabins like this and they'll have sinks with a bucket under them so you can wash dishes and then take the bucket outside when you're done, there's no sink here, so we used a bucket next to the end of the counter and propped our water container up so the spigot hung over the edge and that worked well. There are bunk beds to sleep 4 off the ground, you could sleep a few more on the floor. Outside of the cabin there are several locations for tent sites for larger groups. The road in is pretty rough and not recommended for low-clearance vehicles, but I've seen people drive their cars in. It's less than 1.5 miles off Highway 16, which is nice, but you will hear the highway noise, which can be not so nice. They do graze cows in this area so if you tent camp be aware that your tents will be at the mercy of the cows if left unattended. The worst they will do is knock them down rubbing on them and leave some cow pies around the cabin site.
