Very clean and comfortable. Lots of mosquitoes. Fun to access the river behind the cabin and creeks across the road.

The cabin is charming and was very clean. Thank you, previous renters! The location by the river is nice but had lots of visitors park by the cabin to go fishing. The biggest complaint is that the cabin was recently restored but not to historic preservation standards. It is a shame that the FS historians allowed the electricity to be installed and for God's sakes they put in an electric furnace in lieu of the wood stoves. The charm of renting a truly historic 1908 cabin is no longer there. The place desperately needs screens. Flies and mosquitoes are ubiquitous. "Wire Cloth" (window screens) were in common use by the late 1800's.

Enjoyed our stay at the Guard Station . Everything worked well and the USFS has done a beautiful job restoring the cabin .

Wonderful little cabin and we really enjoyed it. It wouldn't hurt to keep a bucket of lime in the outhouse to keep down the smell and if I ever can stay there in the warmer months, I sure hope there are screens for those windows.

Beautiful setting with historic magic. Great fire pit outside to enjoy the night sky. Wonderful hiking and fishing near by. Rustic to the max so come ready to enjoy living on the frontier. Can’t wait to go back.

We had a wonderful time at this cabin! We visited over Memorial Day weekend, and it was just perfect. Definitely a place we will want to return to again. The Ross Creek Cedar Grove is nearby and was a nice place to visit as well.

We had a wonderful time bringing in the New Year at the Bull River Guard Station. The roads were still clear and we were able to drive right up to the cabin. We took a day hike on the trail to St. Paul lake and stopped just short due to heavy snow and potential avalanche danger. We fit 5 people comfortably in the cabin and it was warm and cozy inside. We have plans to return as soon as our schedules allow!

Great place to stay. Gives you the true authenticity of the era.
