This place is absolutely beautiful and we love it! HOWEVER, be very careful with the water use! I got an e-coli infection that nearly killed me! We did not drink the water, but we did use it for dishes, cleaning, etc. The water MUST be boiled!

Mice yes. Mosquitoes yes. Bunk beds short. Water pump very stiff in AM. Hot days. Water was raised from 500 to 900 so fishing slow. I donated a coffee maker to make it a better experience for others to come.

As usual, this place was beautiful with a beautiful setting and amazing history. Unfortunately, it’s become a little bit dilapidated as a lot of the amenities are poor since they first started renting this. The water pump wasn’t working, the dishes were not particularly clean, the mice are quite rampant inside, and there’s a lot of dog fur that people have not vacuumed up probably because the vacuum that they have there doesn’t work. The our house was quite gross as well. we left it cleaner than what we found it but it needs touchup.

Loved the convenience of being so close to the interstate for a quick stop on our way home. Loved the setup. Too much dog hair and not enough cleaning by previous occupants. Mosquitoes were horrendous. Brig good bug spray.

The house itself was great but could have used some repair work one of the couches was broken and the water pump needs work. the mosquitoes were bad but there's not much to be done about that. All in all, it was a great place for a vacation

Comfy beds. Great location. Mouse in cabin on last night. Two traps were there but not set. Fridge was smelly - bring box of baking soda. We prefer other cabins so I doubt we will be back.

The house stays warm and toasty with the wood stove and cookstove, plus there was plenty of wood. It's fun to cook on the old fashioned wood-burning cookstove. We had a great time exploring the woods, river, and wetlands around the homestead. It's pretty neat to see the train across the river come through in the middle of the night, too.
