What Guests Are Saying

The Southeast Heckman Cabin is well-stocked with wood and maintained in great condition, thanks to the efforts of the Forest Service and the Recreational Aviation Foundation. The improved dock and convenient boat haul-out enhance the overall experience. However, there is a minor issue with the chimney cap not being straight, causing leaks during rain.

Thanks to the RAF there was plenty of wood and cabin was clean. The chimney cap is not on strait so when it rains it leaks.

The cabin was in great shape, the Forest Service and the Recreational Aviation Foundation did a great job on it last year. The dock is much improved and the boat haul out makes it easy to launch & recover the skiff. The bench on the accessibility ramp provides a nice resting spot AND a great place to sit and watch the water on a beautiful day.

The dock was winter damaged. Worked OK to secure and unload our aircraft, but no longer accessible by ramp. There was a nice stack of dry wood by the stove. The woodshed didn’t have a lot of wood in it. The cabin itself was in good shape. Previous users had left a bunch of food stuffs that they probably thought the next people might use, but things had gotten kinda moldy, we hauled out the trash. Hopefully the USFS will make some repairs and restock the woodshed before autumn. This is one of our favorite fly in cabins and we plan to get back there a few times before the lake freezes up next winter.
