We had an incredible time at Dale Clemens! Gorgeous sunset when we arrived and gorgeous sunrise the next morning. The cabin was clean and still warm from the previous group. (Thanks!) First full moon of 2023. We used the 1.5 gallons of kerosene that was left at the cabin. We left 2 gallons of kerosene at the cabin for the next crew. A magical trip!

The view is pure heaven! Glad we had snow shoes to get up and back end of May. We took the winter trail since we didn’t know what snow conditions would be like on the summer trail. Is there a way to check snow conditions?

It was a workout to get to this cabin in the rotten snow, but the views were totally worth it! Please remember to pack out whatever you bring in and leave the cabin cleaner than you found it!

Cabin was clean and warm throughout the entire stay.It's my favorite cabin view in Alaska. The two mile hike uphill in the soft snow was an effort, but always worth it. For reference the heater burned about 1.25 gallons of kerosene per day in temps of 25-35.

The cabin is in great shape, the deck and the views of Resurrection Bay are incomparable. The heater took a bit to warm up the cabin (2-3 hours) but once it gets going, the cabin can easily feel like a sauna even in the lowest setting. There is a lot of snowmachine traffic during the daytime, and that means you will hear the noise from it, but I personally didn't mind, and did not bother me at all. The trail is easy to hike and/or ski, the snowmachine traffic was always kind when sharing the trail.
You can easily go for hikes or skis around the cabin during the day.

Got lucky with clear skies! Stunning cabin from the winter route on Thanksgiving. Took a bit for the cabin to heat up, but that’s to be expected. Not a snowmobile in sight. Will be back!

Cabin was fantastic!! Gorgeous views, perfect location!!
Suggestion: Perhaps whomever is in charge of maintaining the hut could leave a big pot there? That way winter guests would have a pot in which to melt snow for drinking. We brought our own pot, but such a simple addition to the cabin would be nice so that guests don't have to schlep a pot up there on their backs.

Policies & Rules
General
- This facility is located in an extremely remote and wild area; before making a reservation, become aware of bear, water, and weather safety (including cold).
- Recreating in Alaska can present both obvious and hidden dangers; please be aware of your surroundings and be prepared for extended stays due to occasionally poor weather.
- Bikes and horses are not recommended on the access trail, due to numerous rock steps, crossings and water bars, narrow boardwalks (12 inches wide) and fragile alpine vegetation.
- There is no source of fresh water near the cabin; guests must bring their own, or boil or treat water taken from lakes and streams.
- Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is not allowed.
- All garbage and food must be packed out.
- It is unlawful to use a public recreation cabin without a valid cabin reservation.
- Occupying a Public Recreation cabin with more than eight individuals per cabin for each permitted day is prohibited.
- Camping, pitching tents, or staying overnight within 300 feet of any public recreation use cabin is prohibited unless you have a valid cabin reservation.
- It is prohibited to hitch, tether, or hobble any saddle or pack animal including dog teams, within 200 feet of an established trail, water source, or developed recreation site, including Forest Service recreation cabins.
- Camping and/ or occupying any one Public Recreation Use Cabin for a period longer than seven consecutive days by any person or group including but not limited to family members, members of the same household, and members of the same camping party within a 30 day period, and three consecutive days May 15 to August 31.

- Cabin users are responsible for supplying their own kerosene/fuel oil at a rate of one gallon per night.
